This is one of my favorite Japanese-Thai fusion spots in Astoria, offering an incredible variety of dishes. A few must-tries include the ikageso (lightly battered fried squid legs), takoyaki (savory octopus balls), and tako wasabi (raw octopus with a perfectly balanced kick of wasabi). For something heartier, the mentai pasta and chili garlic pasta are both absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. I absolutely love this place and can't recommend it enough--everything on the menu is worth trying!

Festive decoration..look to your right wall, its japanese pictures and decoration, to your left, is thai posters. Servers were really nice, food was pretty good. Good value. Recommending this one!

My go-to Thai restaurant in Astoria. It's unique as it mixes Thai, Japanese, and Korean cuisine, while all of the food has great "wok chi". My favorite is their kimchi pasta - a bit on the spicy side, but good fusion of Korean and western food. Their coconut ramen is also worth trying, although I would not recommend the beef option. Lastly, I always order their Thai fried rice, absolute must-try. They also have a lunch special includes appetizer and main!

Loved the food here! Everything was very flavorful and their staff is so nice an attentive. Our food was served quickly as well! I also love their decor, it felt like a fun place for a date night or a dinner out with friends. For drinks we got the lychee martini and we got the mango Thai iced tea. Both were very refreshing and a good complement to our meal. For appetizers we got the ikageso and the jumbo sweet chili wings. The wings were AMAZING, saucy but still a bit crispy and they were HUGE. It was also very juicy. For entrees we got the crispy duck over rice and the mentai pasta. The pasta is so unique and I loved the creamy sauce they used! For dessert we got the taiyaki with ice cream. The taiyaki was warm and I loved the red bean filling. It was perfect with the ice cream! Overall such a great place for both Thai and Japanese food. Def check them out!

Hero Thai & Izakaya is an absolute delight! We had an incredible meal, and the PLA NEUNG MANAO (steamed red snapper with chili lime dressing) was hands down our favorite--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with spice and citrus. The shrimp and crab meat fried rice served in a baked pineapple was another standout, and the crispy duck roll was the perfect combination of crunch and savory with hoisin-tamarind sauce. The papaya salad was light, refreshing, and had just the right amount of heat. And the fried green tea ice cream was a nostalgic treat, taking me right back to childhood with its crispy coating and sweet mix of strawberry and chocolate syrup. One unique touch was the fish tank inside the restaurant, where an active little frog kept us entertained throughout the meal! It made for such a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend Hero Thai & Izakaya for both the food and the experience!

My sister and I love Thai food and often venture across the city in search of the best flavors. Hero Thai & Izakaya, nestled in the heart of cozy Astoria, Queens, offers a delightful blend of Asian fusion, combining Thai and Japanese influences. While our initial visit was prompted by our love for Thai dishes, we left excited to return and explore their Japanese offerings. What we ordered: Deluxe Appetizers: A delightful selection including spring rolls, samurai dumplings, crab rangoon, and shrimp coconut. It was the perfect introduction to their diverse menu! Mango & Avocado Salad: A colorful mix of fresh mango, creamy avocado, juicy tomato, shallots, peanuts, mint, and chili lime dressing. The combination of sweet and tangy flavors was refreshing and satisfying. Tom Yum Seafood Special: As a fan of both Tom Yum soup and seafood, this dish was an obvious choice. Rich and aromatic, it offered a satisfying mix of seafood, perfect for sharing and savoring. Red Curry: The red curry with eggplant, bamboo shoots, basil leaves, zucchini, bell pepper, and an abundance of seafood was a highlight. Thai Iced Tea With Milk: 10/10 Mango Sticky Rice: 10/10

My friend and I was craving Thai food and decided to check out the spot. Appetizers: their fried chicken gizzards was perfectly battered and the sauce was delicious, we also had their duck rolls. Entrees: Mock duck with eggplant, who knew a vegetarian dish could be this tasty. Their seafood Tom yum is also a must try. We had to get their mango sticky rice and it was delicious as well. Service was attentive and friendly. We can't wait to come back! Super laid back ambiance as well.

We got the Duck Roll, Khao Kao Soi Ramen, Crispy Spring Roll, Crispy Duck Salad w/ Mock duck, Vegetable Dumplings, Fried Chive Pancake, Crab Rangoon, Salmon Mango, Green Curry, takoyaki, and thai iced tea. This place has amazing appetizer options! I really loved the duck roll, which is duck wrapped in an asian pancake. It was my favorite appetizer. The fried chive pancake was also very good and crispy. Most of the appetizers came out hot and crispy; however, those two dishes were my favorite of them all. The Khao Kao Soi Ramen was an interesting combination of thai khao soi with Japanese ramen. It was good but very heavy. I was able to finish it after having the appetizers. The salmon was moist and flavorful. The green curry were also very good and on par with other places serving similar dishes in the area. Service was great. We had a large group and they were very accommodating. I do recommend making reservations ahead of time if you have a big group.
